iPhone turns into a razor, a rock.

In March 2011, Mr. Ho Minh Chinh, residing in Le Loi Ward (Vinh City, Nghe An Province), went to the post office to pick up a package sent by his daughter from England. Upon opening it, he found only a Chinese-made electric shaver. He angrily stated, "My daughter only sent an iPhone 4, but the package contained an electric shaver and no phone at all."

ordered an iPhone 5 with accessories via EMS for his cousin, Truong Dang Hoa (Dong Tam commune, Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc province). However, the package only contained a cheap Nokia phone and two rocks. “I sent the iPhone 5 with accessories, and the postal worker clearly stated this on the receipt. The phone was still working perfectly. I don't understand why this valuable item disappeared when I returned home,” Mr. Hoa said angrily.

After delivery, the iPhone 5 was just a cheap Nokia phone and two rocks.

The latest incident occurred on July 2nd, when a member of the Tinh Te forum received a package of pebbles and accessories instead of the α6000 camera worth 14 million VND, when using the Tin Thanh delivery service.

No service gives customers peace of mind.

Incidents of customers having their valuables stolen, swapped, or even their entire packages disappearing while using domestic delivery services have occurred frequently over the years. Tin Thanh is one of the companies with the most such incidents, but both private and state-owned delivery services experience problems where the user ultimately suffers the loss of time and money. 

Theft of goods occurs even in places that are supposed to have strict security, such as airports. There have long been instances of ground staff stealing valuables from luggage of people returning to Vietnam from abroad, or from goods being shipped from overseas. Recently, during a meeting with the Ministry of Transport, a leader from the Ministry of Public Security revealed that a senior official from the Ministry had his iPad stolen while on business, and that a bank CEO accompanying the Prime Minister had his entire suitcase taken.

Theft of goods is the act of a few individuals, but the management unit, in this case the airport and the delivery service companies, cannot escape responsibility. However, at this time, there is no way to prevent it. Therefore, customers have to advise themselves to use insured delivery services for valuable goods, even if the cost is very high, and to check the goods immediately upon receipt, comparing the quantity with the quantity stated on the accompanying invoice.
